CHKDSK: "RAW file system" message

Sometimes various error messages may appear when a volume has been damaged, most common being:

The volume X: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?

The disk in drive X: is not formatted.

There was an error accessing drive X:. The disk is not formatted.

How to recover data from RAW file system?

It is a process of recovering data from a storage device, like hard drive, a camera memory card, an USB pen drive when Windows reports " RAW file system" or "The drive is not formatted".

1. Download and install EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free Edition as you do with any regular program.

2. You will be welcomed by three data recovery modules when launching it and choose "Complete Recovery" dedicated for RAW recovery.

Download and install notice: please do not download and install the exe file on a partition you lost files.

3. At the file page window, you can specify certain file types to search so that to save time for finding the exact data you need.

4. Then choose the Raw drive to search and several minutes later you will find your lost data.

Caution: Don't save file(s) to the partition or drive where you are recovering data, for it may result in overwriting data and permanent data loss!
